Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue, hereafter "our company") has expanded the grades for the High-efficiency PCD Cutter for Aluminum Alloys "ALNEX™ ANX Series", launched for sale as of September 2021.
In recent years, the automotive industry among others, has sought to reduce the weight of parts in order to improve fuel efficiency, and the use of non-ferrous metals such as aluminum is increasing. In order to improve the machining efficiency of these parts, there is an increasing need for lightweight tools that can be used under high-speed, high-efficiency cutting conditions, as well as on small machines.
In response to these needs, our company launched the High-efficiency PCD Cutter for Aluminum Alloys "ALNEX™ ANX Series" in April 2019.
A new expansion of the "GB Type" blade with "SUMIDIA™ DA90" grade for stable machining has been added to this series for the machining of parts combining aluminum alloy and cast iron, such as in automobile engines.

・Utilizing "SUMIDIA™ DA90" grade for stable machining
SUMIDIA™ DA90 is a polycrystalline diamond grade in which coarse diamond particles have been sintered to form a dense structure. The high diamond content, with high wear resistance, makes it ideal for machining of parts combining aluminum alloy and cast iron, as well as aluminum alloy parts with Si content over 12.6%.

Cutting edge treatment designed for toughness to handle the fracture-resistant machining required for parts like the above, realises excellent fracture resistance.
