Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue, hereafter "our company") has launched additional diameters for the Indexable Insert type SumiDrillTM GDX series as of June 2025.
The indexable insert type SumiDrillTM GDX series, launched for sale in November 2024, has been lauded by numerous customers for its response to the deep hole drilling needs of recent years, in large machined parts such as wind power generator components.
The lineup expansion includes 96 drill body Cat. Nos. and 16 insert Cat. Nos. supporting diameters from ø15.5mm to ø18.0mm and ø22.5mm to ø27.0mm. The diverse lineup enables the machining of a wider range of hole diameters, with stable performance in deep hole drilling, stainless steel and general structural rolled steel, which were difficult to achieve previously with conventional indexable insert type drills.
