Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue, hereafter "our company") has developed and launched the new SEC-Cut-off Tool Holder GLC series, specialized for cut-off machining used in a variety of machined parts including automotive parts, for sale as of May 2025.

In cut-off machining, which is extensively used for various machine parts such as automotive parts, abnormal tool vibration and chip evacuation are issues which call for improved tool life and productivity. In addition, exotic alloys such as the heat-resistant alloys used in aerospace components have become more common in recent years, making cut-off machining more difficult. Given this context, there is an even greater need for tools offering consistently stable machining.

In order to respond to these needs, our company has developed the SEC-Cut-off Tool Holder GLC series, which boasts high stability even in large-diameter cut-off machining.

SEC-Cut-off Tool Holder GLC series

1. Features

(1) Superb machining stability
The newly designed holder shape keeps the insert firmly fixed, suppressing abnormal tool vibration. The lineup includes 8 types of GLC-C type carbide holders, supporting cut-off machining up to workpiece diameters of ø140mm (groove depths of 70mm).

(2) Outstanding insert tool life
The lineup includes AC5015S and AC5025S grades for exotic alloy machining, realising high durability. These grades can be used with confidence for machining exotic alloys.

(3) Excellent ease of use
Inserts can be exchanged quickly and accurately with a single wrench, improving work efficiency.

(4) 3 types of chipbreaker to cover a variety of applications
Combination with three chipbreaker types (general-purpose chipbreaker GG type, low cutting force chipbreakers GF type (neutral) and CF type (handed)) to meet a wide range of machining needs.
