Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue, hereafter "our company") has added a lineup specialized for aluminum alloy drilling to the coated carbide Flat MULTIDRILL MDF series, for sale as of October 2025.

The Flat MULTIDRILL MDF series is lauded by many customers for its ability to meet the needs for drilling on non-flat surfaces, such as inclined and cylindrical surfaces.

In recent years, aluminum alloy has come into wider use in various industries, including the automotive industry, in a bid to reduce component weight for improved fuel efficiency. However in some cases, fine chips can impede cutting, thus creating a need for higher-efficiency drilling through improved chip evacuation.

To meet these needs, we are launching for sale the new Flat MULTIDRILL MDF-A type, ideal for aluminum alloy drilling (20 Cat. Nos.). A new DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating and a cutting edge shape for excellent chip evacuation, provide stable performance in aluminum alloy drilling.

Our company will continue to pursue further technological innovation, providing products in response to our customers' needs.
