Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue; hereafter "our company") has developed and launched new insert grades for Small Diameter Boring Bars SEXC Type for sale as of November 2022.
Internal boring is widely used in machining of small parts used in the automotive, IT/electronics and medical industries among others; and there is a rising demand for low-cost, high-quality machining.
Our company's Small Diameter Boring Bars SEXC Type, with minimum bore diameter of ø4mm, realise high-rigidity machining and high-accuracy cutting edge position by using a carbide holder with a positioning mechanism. In addition, with indexable 2-cornered inserts, this product has contributed to lower costs in machining of hardened steel.
In response to users' needs for machining materials other than hardened steel, such as steel and stainless steel, we have expanded the insert lineup to include PVD coated carbide grade AC1030U and cermet grade T1500A.

AC1030U combines excellent cutting edge sharpness with a smooth, high-adhesion coating layer, and T1500A ,with controlled grain size within the cermet structure, maintains excellent edge sharpness for a long time. In addition, tearing on the machined surface is suppressed from initial tool use to tool replacement, thus realising excellent machined surface quality.
