Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue, hereafter "our company") has developed the high-efficiency MHL type head for the exchangeable head drills SEC-MULTIDRILL SMD series, launched for sale as of February 2026.
In recent years, the use of solid carbide drills in high-efficiency drilling has increased but their high costs have become an issue. This has led to the interest in exchangeable head type drills which can significantly reduce tool costs. Consequently, exchangeable head type drills are required to have hole diameter quality, improved productivity and long tool life similar to solid carbide drills.
In response to these needs, our company has developed the MHL type head for high-efficiency drilling. This product achieves hole diameter quality equivalent to solid carbide drills through stable engagement with the work material, while significantly improving productivity and tool life in comparison to conventional tools.
Our company will continue to offer high-efficiency machining solutions in order to contribute to customers' increased productivity and reduced costs.
