Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue, hereafter "our company") has added new cost-effective steel holders to the SEC-Cut-off Tool Holder GLC series lineup, which is ideal for cut-off and deep grooving of a variety of machine components, including automotive parts, for sale as of November 2025.

The SEC-Cut-off Tool Holder GLC series, launched for sale in May 2025, has responded to the needs for stable large-diameter cut-off of various machine components, including automotive parts.

In addition to the existing GLC-C type carbide holders, we are expanding our lineup with GLC-S type steel holders, which balances affordability and machining stability in response to the demands for increased tool life and production efficiency. In addition, we are also offering the GLC-SJ type steel holders with internal coolant supply, to achieve high stability in machining of difficult-to-cut materials such as the heat-resistant alloys used in aerospace components.

SEC-Cut-off Tool Holder GLC-SJ type

1.    Features

(1) Superb machining stability
The newly designed holder shape firmly secures the insert, suppressing abnormal tool vibration to achieve stable machining beyond that of the previous model and supporting machining with a maximum cut-off diameter of ø100mm (groove depth 50mm).

(2) Outstanding insert tool life
The GLC-SJ type boasts outstanding insert tool life through internal coolant supply, reducing running costs and improving cost-effectiveness. In addition, AC5015S and AC5025S grades for exotic alloy machining have been added to the lineup to achieve high durability even when machining difficult-to-cut materials.

(3) Excellent operability
Inserts can be exchanged quickly with high accuracy with a single wrench, improving work efficiency.
