Beam Shaper
Feature
The beam shaper is an element that converting into a flattop beam for a single mode laser. Processing with suppressed taper is achieved by way of micro cutting and micro drilling.
We provide some types that single element, set of two lenses, non-focus unit. The choices are the aspheric lens type and DOE (Diffractive Optical Elements) type. Non circular shape such as a line or a rectangle shape are acceptable for DOE type.
●Materials
Depending on the laser wavelength, aspheric lens types use calcium fluoride (CaF₂) or zinc selenide (ZnSe), while DOE types use high-purity fused silica or zinc selenide. Sumitomo Electric has developed and operates its own reactor for zinc selenide materials, enabling the manufacture of components using domestically produced zinc selenide.
●Coating
Lenses and DOEs are coated with anti-reflection (AR) coating on both sides as standard.
Furthermore, Sumitomo Electric’s coating for zinc selenide does not use any ThF4 (thorium fluoride, a radioactive substance), which is commonly found in similar products from other companies, making it environmentally friendly and safe to handle.
